Wouldn’t you like your children to look up to you or their grandparents? To spend their youth days dreaming of becoming an insurance agent like their father or a school teacher like their mother? Those are only dreams. There is a certain period in their lives when you are their idol and they want to grow as tall as you are and to wear their hair like you do. But that only lasts until they go to school. From that moment on they discover new idols who can be actors, cartoon characters or singers.

All a good parent can do, is provide a balanced education which will contribute much to the future decisions of your child. As a teenager he will start developing musical, fashion and other artistic preferences. For many adolescents singers are closest to their hearts; they sing about issues that they are concerned with. Themes like love, rejection, finding a way in life are often encountered in songs.

It is not always easy to change the world, but you can look up to those who can and to those who do. The power of art can influence our lives whether it is poetry, sculpture, painting or singing. When artists manage to do things in a better and different way than those before her/him then you get movements like the cubism in the 1900’s or the flower power in the early 1960’s.

Artists are the ones who can contribute to changing the world. They can influence people by their talent and they can acquire enough power to become heard. Names which become famous have this idea of changing something in common. Lady Gaga and the Beatles are two musical icons which are representative for their times but also because of their music. The innovative sounds and combinations made by them are always appreciated by the public. We must admit that their music sounds great although contemporary sounds are encouraged more by the guitar effects pedal.
